Meryem DEFFAIRI

Member of the Paris Bar since 2009, Meryem DEFFAIRI became a Doctor of Public Law in 2013 from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, defending a thesis entitled "La patrimonialisation en droit de l'environnement" on the legal status of environmental assets, published in 2015 by Editions IRJS. For this thesis, she was awarded the Chancellerie Georges Ripert prize, as well as a special prize from the French Society for Environmental Law.

She is graduated from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Master I and II in Environmental Law) as well as from Madrid Université Complutense (Licenciatura en derecho).

Meryem DEFFAIRI works with a wide range of public and private entities in industrial environmental law (ICPE, waste, water, etc.), energy law, mining law, biodiversity protection law, natural and technological risk law, urban planning law and general administrative law.

She is a frequent speaker at conferences in France and abroad (South Korea, Argentina, Brazil), and regularly publishes articles in specialized journals and books. Her most recent articles are devoted to environmental litigation, information sectors on polluted sites, air pollution and the protection and development of wetlands. Since 2007, Meryem DEFFAIRI teaches at the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées and the Université Paris II Panthéon-Assas. As part of her teaching activities, she has lectured in administrative law, general public law, tort law, town planning law and environmental law. She is currently pursuing her academic career as a lecturer, and provides training for a variety of institutions (ENM continuing education courses, CCI, etc.).
